Domain 4 Packaging and Marketing Study
From this domain, I have gained the knowledge about packaging and marketing study.
In packaging study, the key points that I have learned are:
- The packaging material used for the product
- It is important to have good functions for the packaging in terms of the protection barriers, the convenience, containment, and communication.
- The design of packaging - impart the communication(information) to the consumers
- The software to design the packaging - improve my IT skill
- The trend of the packaging design
- The inspiration of the design ideas
- Follow the Food Act Regulations Malaysia
- cannot simply claim the health claims
- nutrition fact labels
- ingredients list
- product name, net volume, best before and etc.
- Determination of SWOT of product
- Strength - internal factor such as high in vitamin B and antioxidant
- Weakness - internal factor such as product inconsistency
- Opportunity - external factor like large target markets
- Threat - external factor like unknown and new brand in the market
- 4Ps of the product
- Place,
- Place is same with channel of distribution. A place where customers purchase products and also a distribution strategy aimed at ensuring the product offered reaches the customers in a controlled and efficient manner.
- Product,
- The term "product" refers to tangible, physical products as well as services. A product is seen as an item that satisfies what a consumer needs or wants.
- Promotion,
- Promotion strategy is used to disseminate information about the company’s product or services with the intention of attracting the target market.
- Price,
- The price is the amount a customer is willing to pay for the product.
- Relationship of SWOT to 4C
- It focuses the marketer on targeting niches rather than mass markets. Through its focus on the consumer, the 4C’s marketing mix steps away from the traditional mass marketing approach and focuses on niche marketing.
- 4C = Cost, Costumer solution, Convenience and Communication
- Costing
- Selling price, the gross profit margin, mark up percentage of the product.
- Selling price must give profit after deduct the revenue.
- Sell sheet design
- How to make it eye catching/ attractive
- Provide the informations
